Behavior Concerns

One of the biggest issues that I face on a daily basis in the classroom is dealing with a plethora of multifaceted behavior issues....The stories that my colleagues and I could tell would make most teachers look for another profession, pronto..I have students whose impulsivities conclude with them hitting, pushing, or punching other students daily.... All of the energy that is needed to handle the incidents in question take away from my primary job:TEACHING...There is limited support staff to handle these "interruptions" in regards to the size of our student population....Unless the students emotional well being is examined, we will continue to have to shoehorn lessons in between the frequent verbal and physical outbursts...Any thoughts on what can be done to improve this problem?????

  1. If only I knew what could solve th is problem... I do think that the majority of parents we deal with need to start disciplining their children at home and leading by example. If a teacher comes to you with a problem , don't make excuses for your child or blame others. A lot of my students are told by their parents that if someone does something to them then do it back...this is not the right way of dealing with it. Half the time a child might get bumped accidentally but they push or hit the child back and it escolates into something much more... DOn't know what will change to improve this problem....

  2. Parents need to start taking an active role in their child's education. If your child cannot control himself in school then the parent should be required to attend class with that student. Let's see them act out when Mom is right next to them.
